We could not have done this without your help and support. On behalf of everyone at the Retired Racehorse Project, thank you!
The Retired Racehorse Project’s mission is to facilitate placement of Thoroughbred ex-racehorses in second careers by increasing demand for them in equestrian sports and serving the farms, trainers, and organizations that transition them. Since the RRP’s inception in 2010, we’ve helped inspire thousands of equestrians to choose an off-track Thoroughbred and rekindled interest in OTTBs in a variety of disciplines. Demand for OTTBs has risen and once again the Thoroughbred is becoming the partner of choice for both competitive and recreational riders.
More Than the Makover
While the Thoroughbred Makeover is the biggest and most visible event produced by the Retired Racehorse Project, the organization does so much more:
* Creates and provides print and online resource directory, featuring racetracks, placement organizations, and farms and trainers to assist in the off-track transition
* Maintains the only bloodline database for Thoroughbreds in second careers
* Publishes _Off-Track Thoroughbred Magazine_, the only publication of its kind
* Maintains an online library of videos and information about selecting off-track prospects, feed and nutrition, track life and training
* Provides horse listing services for horses coming off the track ready for second careers, as well as horses in retraining ready for their next partner
