Jill Byrne is the Vice President of Strategic Planning for the Virginia Equine Alliance. Jill grew up in horse racing in Virginia riding show horses and then racehorses for her father, Peter Howe, who trained for Marion DuPont Scott of historic Montpelier. Jill has an extensive background in the horse racing industry having had careers as a trainer, rider and all-around horsewoman, as well as holding prestigious positions as VP Racing Operations Colonial Downs, Director Broadcast & Production Churchill Downs, Sr Director Industry Relations Breeders’ Cup and host,handicapper and reporter for TVG network. A lifelong passion for the horse and making sure they are well cared for after their days at the racetrack lead Jill to join the Board of Directors at The Virginia Thoroughbred Project.
